Originating from Afghanistan, this landrace thrives in a valley at around 800m altitude. Known for its resilience, it adapts well to the extreme climate of its homeland—hot summers and freezing winters. The plant grows short with thick side branches and was traditionally used to produce potent hashish.
With a flowering period of 7–9 weeks, Afghanica is ready for harvest outdoors by the end of September or beginning of October. Indoors, it can yield up to 500 grams per square meter, while outdoor cultivation may produce between 600 to 700 grams. This strain exhibits strong growth vigor and is resistant to mold and disease.
Its leaves are dark green and large, and the buds are highly condensed with a thick coating of trichomes, contributing to its high THC content. The aroma is earthy with a rich floral note, and the smoke delivers a sweet hash flavor. It produces a powerful indica body effect, making it ideal for relaxation.
Afghanica is well-suited for beginners, thanks to its disease resistance and ease of cultivation. It can be grown both indoors and outdoors, with a short flowering time. The plants are compact, making the SOG (Sea of Green) method effective when using 12–16 plants per square meter. Trimming lower leaves improves airflow and light penetration for better results.
Due to its strong sedating effects, this strain is commonly used to manage insomnia, stress, and anxiety. It also helps increase appetite, making it beneficial for individuals with eating disorders like anorexia. Afghanica is highly effective for pain relief, particularly chronic pain, and is often used for nighttime medication.
