C99

Origins and Development

Female Seeds introduced the C99 strain in 2003, marking one of their earliest releases. However, the development of C99 began much earlier, with Ferry working on the strain as far back as 1999. Initially created for a different seedbank as regular seeds, the C99 was later refined through years of experimentation. It originated from a long-flowering Sweet Thai landrace crossed with a shorter-flowering Sativa, likely Durban Poison. To stabilize the genetics, it was backcrossed using two unique C99 phenotypes: Grapefruit and Pineapple.

Characteristics and Growth

The resulting C99 strain is a fast-flowering Sativa-dominant hybrid that typically flowers in 8 to 9 weeks. This is remarkable for a Sativa, which usually requires much longer to mature. The strain has an unusually high CBD content, making it one of the first CBD-Sativa chemotypes. It features two phenotypes: one more compact and the other slightly taller. The plant develops a large, candle-shaped main bud with smaller, dense nugs on lower branches, all covered in frosty resin.

C99 offers a delightful sensory experience with two distinct phenotypes. One exudes a wonderful grapefruit aroma, while the other is renowned for its sought-after pineapple scent.
