Black Cherry Reserve Feminized is a 60% indica-dominant hybrid developed by the team at Fat Beans in collaboration with the Sensi Seeds Breeding Grounds project. The breeders started with the classic Big Bud, which has Afghan, Northern Lights, and Skunk #1 heritage, and crossed it with a hybrid of Black Cherry Punch and Tropicana Cookies to add a touch of Kush and Durban genetics.
These plants are known to grow quite tall and can generate heavy yields of dense, sticky buds. While they can be challenging to manage, experienced growers will appreciate their versatility, as they are ideal candidates for a wide range of advanced training techniques.
Black Cherry Reserve Feminized plants perform best in a warm, semi-dry climate and can tolerate moderate humidity with adequate air circulation. They grow into large plants with long lateral branches and fairly short internodal spacing. These plants take up a wide footprint, so growers should ensure they have enough space before planting.
The main cola dominates the upper half of the plant with multiple thick, spear-shaped buds. Below that, the strong lower branches are loaded with bulbous, resin-soaked flowers. Growers can also expect strong, deep purple hues when nighttime temperatures drop slightly below optimal.
Indoors, Black Cherry Reserve Feminized plants can reach a height of 100–160 cm and yield 400–550 grams per square metre over a 60–65-day flowering period. Outdoors, they can grow up to 300 cm tall and produce heavy yields of 475–650 grams per plant.
The flowers are remarkably dense, rounded, and covered with frosty trichomes. They can take on stunningly dark purple-black hues and are covered with neon orange pistils. These buds are exceptionally sticky with resin, thanks to their Tropicana Cookies heritage, and are moderately leafy.
Due to their impressive size, Black Cherry Reserve Feminized plants aren’t suitable for a sea of green (SOG) setup. However, their strong lateral branches and moderate internodal spacing make them a good fit for a screen of green (SCROG), while their rapid vegetative growth makes them a good pick for mainlining. They also respond well to a range of low-stress training options.
Once flowering begins, Black Cherry Reserve Feminized plants develop a sticky-sweet smell of black cherry syrup, zesty orange, fresh-baked cinnamon cookies, and tropical candy. The dried flowers sharpen the scents and bring out the layers of aroma. A sharp cherry soda sweetness dominates, with undertones of orange peel, spicy cookie dough, and a loud, sweet, tang supported by a dark and fruity backbone.
The flavor is exactly as expected: cherry glaze, tropical citrus, sugary cookie dough, and a surprising touch of faint gas. It finishes with a lingering, tart berry finish. Sampling Black Cherry Reserve Feminized delivers an intensely euphoric burst of strong cerebral clarity before settling into a warm, heavy body stone. The high is energetic at first and deeply relaxing afterward. This strain is known for its long-lasting and powerful high, making it perfect for a slow and relaxing evening at home.
Did you know? Big Bud was originally bred in the US before being brought to the Netherlands in the 1980s to survive the War on Drugs. Black Cherry Punch contains genes from Granddaddy Purps, OG Kush, and Afghan landrace strains, among others. Tropicana Cookies is a cross of GSC and Tangie.
