Black Romanov

Overview

Black Romanov Feminized is a 60/40 sativa/indica hybrid bred for the Sensi Seeds Breeding Grounds project by the team at Ziplock Seeds at their outdoor breeding compound in Hawaii. This strain was created by crossing Sensi Seeds' classic Black Domina with Ziplock Seeds' unique Death Kiss, resulting in a truly distinct cannabis plant.

These plants are rather tall with the potential for heavy yields, making them suitable for both novice and experienced growers. They have a flexible growth pattern that responds well to most growing techniques. However, their size and bushiness can make them tricky to manage in smaller spaces. They perform best in colder, drier settings.

Growth Pattern

Black Romanov Feminized cannabis seeds grow into tall plants with long internodal spacing, allowing for excellent light penetration and airflow, which is ideal for dense, resinous bud formation. Despite the sativa genetics, the growth pattern leans more towards the indica side, with a main cola rising slightly above a dense tangle of robust lateral branches.

Indoor growers can expect plants to finish flowering at a height of roughly 100–160 cm, producing heavy yields of 400–550 grams per square metre over a 60 to 65-day flowering cycle. Outdoors, these plants can reach up to 300 cm in height and generate up to 475–650 grams per plant.

These plants are well-suited for screen of green (SCROG) or other low-stress training techniques. More experienced growers may also find them suitable for high-stress training such as mainlining and lollipopping. However, due to their size and bushiness, they are not ideal for a sea of green (SOG) setup.

Flavor, Aroma, and Effects

As Black Romanov Feminized cannabis plants begin to flower, they emit a bold aroma that is dark, floral, and warmly spiced, with subtle sweetness and citrus highlights. Once dried and cured, the finished flowers have a creamy, gassy profile with rich vanilla undertones and potent hints of sweet berry and dry burgundy wine.

The flavor is warm and darkly inviting, with smooth and dessert-like notes. It starts with a gassy inhale, leading to a rich, sweet vanilla exhale with a lingering fruity aftertaste.
